Fans thought Malcolm Jamal Warner might quit The Resident and end his role in season 6, episode 7. 

Malcolm made an impression in the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital as Dr. Aj Austin in the Season of The Resident may depart from the show. He worked on 90 episodes from 2018 to 2022. 

Malcolm is an Emmy-nominated actor acknowledged for his appearances in The Cosby Show, Reed Between The Lines, Malcolm & Eddie, and Fool's Gold. Besides the movie, he had worked in Puppy Dod Pals, Sneaky Pete, and The Chicken Squad.  

Malcolm is working in the Fox Entertainment television series Accused. They are filming the first episode of the series, which will release on January 22, 2023. Also, the actor had worked alongside Shawn Doyle, Abigail Breslin, and Rachel Bilson. 

Why Do Fans think Malcolm Jamal Warner Is Leaving The Resident? 

Malcolm may not be leaving The Resident. Fans speculated about the character's departure from the series after some danger appeared to the character he was portraying. Previously, it had been rumored the character might leave The Resident in season 4. 

During that time, the characters AJ and ( Shaunette RenĂ©e Wilson) DR. Mina Okafor decided to take their love next level. As a result, the couple kissed each other in the season 4 premiere. Afterward, the pair started a romantic relationship. 

Unfortunately, the romance between the couple didn't last long as Okafor had multiple problems in her home in Nigeria. As a result, she decided to go back home as her family needed her, and she needed to take care of them.

Although Mina was unsure about her return to Nigeria, her visa let her leave the country. After her working visa expires, she couldn't remain in Unites states. She told the situation to Aj, and he offered to go with her. 

Nonetheless, AJ faced the family rouble back home. His mom(Summer Shelby) was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. After the incident, Mina decided to leave the country on her own. 

Shaunette quit the series in 2021 after the exit role of Mina. Malcolm remained on the show. Fortunately, the actor became a full-time cast member. He played the role of vet AJ for all of season 5. Later he returned to season 6 and even directed the recent episode The Chimera. 

AJ Austin's Mother's Health Declined In Season 5

After the departure of the character Mina from The Resident, Malcolm made it back to the show, grieved the loss. The next episode shared the heartbreaking phase for the character as his mother's health declined slowly.

AJ had stayed with his mother when she progressed with her cancer and took care of her. Sadly, she left him with a promise. He said he would have a family someday. 

As a result, Malcolm donated his sperm in season 5, episode 19, to Padma (Aneesha Joshi) in All WE Have Is Now. he mentioned he wanted to be the father and play a vital role in the kid's life. 

AJ Austin Twins And Padma Survived The Surgery In The Resident

Aj had bundles of joy after Padma and the twins survived the surgery in the previous episode. As a promise from his mother, he donated sperm to Padma so she could be pregnant with twins. 

Although the couple wasn't dating, they felt excited about the twins. The episode of pregnancy aired in Season 6. He purchased a new condo for Padma and her twin kids. Later, Padma and her children faced danger. 

AJ and Padma discovered one of the Twins was smaller than another. As a result, the couple saw less chance of survival. Meanwhile, Padma faced the beginning stages of heart failure. AJ and his team operated on her.

The last season ended with a happy ending for the couple. However, the next episode is 'The Better Part of Valor,' where Malcolm's role is undefined. The next season will air on November 15, 2022. 

The next sequence was written by Amy Holden Jones, Hayley Schore, and Roshan Sethi. In the episode, only five characters are listed on IMDB, including Matt Czuchry, Manish Dayal, Jane Leeves, Ian Anthony, and Vince Foster.
