The third and youngest child of Penelope Knatchbull, Lady Romsey, and Norton Knatchbull, Lord Romsey, was Leonora Knatchbull.

Norton is the son of John Knatchbull, Baron Brabourne, and Patricia Edwina Victoria Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma.

Norton is the late Prince Philip's cousin because he is, through his mother, the grandson of the late Louis Mountbatten, Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

Following the passing of his mother in 2017, Penelope and Norton were given the titles of Countess and Earl Mountbatten of Burma, respectively.

On June 25, 1986, Leonora Louise Marie Elizabeth Knatchbull was born. Growing up, she played with several aristocratic and royal kids and frequented the same social circles as the royal family.

She was depicted in front of Diana, Princess of Wales, dressed in crimson, on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the 1991 Trooping the Colours. Sadly, the much-loved Leonora had a tragically brief existence after developing kidney cancer.

She passed away at the age of five on October 22, 1991, at St. Bartholomew's Hospital in London.

At Broadlands, a family estate in the vicinity of Romsey, Leonora was laid to rest. Leonora Children's Cancer Fund was established in 1994 in Leonora's honor by Norton and Penelope Knatchbull. At a 1994 charity reception, The Duke of Edinburgh was there.

Leonora, the Knatchbulls' youngest child, passed away from kidney cancer at the age of five in October 1991. The Herald claims that Leonora was diagnosed after becoming ill in 1990 while on a family vacation in Spain.

While on vacation with the family, Princess Diana and the future King, Charles III, were also present. Leonora had chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the malignancy during a 14-month period. Princess Diana visited Leonora in the hospital during her dying days.

At Romsey Abbey in Hampshire, Leonora's burial was held in October 1991. Later, she was laid to rest on the grounds of the Hampshire family estate, Broadlands.

Later, in honor of Leonora, her parents established the Leonora Children's, Cancer Fund. The organization is currently known as The Edwina Mountbatten And Leonora Children's Foundation after joining forces with The Edwina Mountbatten Trust.
