After being diagnosed with cancer, Robin Roberts suffered a noticeable weight loss. Roberts did not give up hope when battling cancer two times. But her journey of maintaining her health and fitness inspires many today. 

She has recently worked with GMA and has her own production company. And due to her hectic schedule, she had several shows last week and the first two this week. And her fans have been calling out for her and asking for her return on Twitter, as per Hello Magazine. 

Some wonder if she has been busy taking care of her partner these days since she has also remained inactive on social media. She has gone through the struggle twice, and earlier this year, she announced that her partner, Amber, had also been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Celebrities love how they look and prefer keeping their natural body up to standards. While some go through rigorous workouts and strict diets, some have inspiring stories behind them. At the same time, some prefer their looks and loves their body type.  

Robin Roberts Weight Loss Journey

Robin, who is a favorite television broadcaster of many viewers in America, lost significant weight because of cancer. She survived cancer twice. But, there were side effects of the treatments she underwent, including weight loss and hair loss. 

She Is A Two Time Cancer Survivor

Roberts has survived cancer two times. She was diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer in 2007. She had surgery on August 3 and had finished eight chemotherapy sessions by January 2008.

She was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a bone marrow disease, in 2012. According to NHS, the condition is caused when the bone marrow does not generate enough healthy blood cells and produces abnormal cells that are not entirely grown. And as the disease worsens, immature blood cells take over the bone marrow.

Hello Magazine said the doctor believes she got cancer a second time because of the chemotherapy she underwent to treat breast cancer. She left GMA to undergo a bone marrow transplant (donated by her sister Sally Ann Roberts) and returned home in October 2012, but she also lost considerable weight. 

She Did Not Feel Like Eating

When Cure asked about what she did to ease stress and the side effects of cancer and its treatment, Roberts said she lost quite a bit of weight with MDS. She barely weighed 100 pounds, and her doctors would tell her to eat.

She explained that everything made her nauseous, and she would watch food channels to see food without smelling it so that it would spark her appetite. Then, she would say, "Oh, I think I want this," and her partner or whoever was with her would run out and get it for her.

The bigger change to Robin Robert's look was hair loss and weight loss. She lost hair because of chemotherapy that she had to undergo when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome in 2011. 

But she has been working on maintaining her health and fitness now. And there is a significant difference in how she looked when recovering and at present. 

She Had A Hair Loss

During an episode of Apple Fitness+ episode of Time to Walk on Apple Watch, Roberts shared about her journey of battling cancer. When she was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, she heard doctors say she would lose hair due to the chemotherapy. Hair is a daily conversation for women…especially for women of color", said Roberts. 

Part of going through the cancer was losing her hair and her crown, but it did not stop her from working. She would wear a wig and co-host GMA during her treatments.

But, she did not feel like herself and decided to ditch the wig one day. She wanted to be an example of what it is like to live and work with cancer.

Robin Roberts Diet And Workout Routine

Robin Roberts has shared her diet and workout routine many times during her show and in many interviews. As a result, she has become an inspiration to many cancer survivors. 

She has shared her struggles but, at the same time, provided people with tips on how to maintain optimism and positivity during difficult times. 

Cut Out Red Meat From Diet

During Roberts' candid interview in the March 2011 issue of Prevention, she shared her story about breast cancer and how she dealt with depression. She has been actively sharing her story and trying to reach out to those who are going through similar situations she once went from.

In the interview, when asked what she thought caused cancer, she said that she used to eat red meat three or four times a day before being diagnosed. She shared that she was convinced that the amount of red meat she ate contributed to it. 

Although it is not like junk food, it was all the sodium in canned foods she ate too. Thus, currently, she cuts out red meat from her diet. 

She Used Weight Training and Yoga

Roberts returned to Good Morning America after five months after her brown marrow transplant. She had lost too much weight then and needed to rebuild her strength.

She relied on weight training and yoga to gain strength. She also went for walks to gain clarity and peace during the tough times.

In 2015, she said that she used to play little hops and little tennis. She played tennis when she was growing up, so she often played as an adult for exercise. Now, she does pilates and yoga to maintain her body and health.

She Is Into Meditation

When sharing how she dealt with the worries and stress during her suffering from cancer, she said that meditation and quiet time is also needed. She would be comedies and would maintain her optimism. She also added that she was surrounded by positivity and positive people around her during difficult times.

 In 2020, she shared how transcendental meditation helped her change her life. George Stephanopoulos and his instructor Bob Roth were the ones who introduced her to TM, and it is a unique way of calming and energizing oneself. 

She had teamed up with several celebrities for the Meditate America free benefit celebration and concert in 2020 while thinking it would help adults and young ones keep themselves positive during the pandemic, writes Etonline.
