HBO's The White Lotus Season 2 brings in a layer of symbolism with unique head statues.

The White Lotus Season 2 is a comedy and drama series set in a tropical resort. The series follows various guests and staff who stay at a luxurious hotel for over a week.  

Season 2 returned with a darkly comedic trip to a lavish hotel in Sicily.

The Symbolism Of The Statues

During the first episode, the group asks the staff about the statue in their room to the hotel staff. Cameron, Ethan, Daphne, and Harper are eager to learn the symbolism behind it.

The hotel worker says that the Head statue is called a Testa di Moro. 

The staff tells the story of a person whose head had been cut by his lover. The story describes how Moor seduced a local girl a long time ago in the hotel. 

After the girl discovers Moor's details, she cuts off his head. Moor already had a wife and children at home, and brtrayed the girl. This leads her to cut his head. This symbolizes the relationship between a couple and the result of lies and deception.

Daphne (Meghann Fahy) tells Cameron (Theo James) that it is a warning to husbands.

Rocco further explains the rest of the legend and other meanings behind the Testa di Moro's origins. After the woman removed the Moor's head, she used it to grow basil. It was used as a vase at that time. 

As a result, the scent attracted the girl's neighbors who would end up with a similar fate. The meaning of the statue came as a warning in every story. 

What Does Head Statues Symbolise?

The Head Statues represent Sicilian culture and handicrafts. The Moor's heads are popular among Souvenirs. It was developed with the face of a man and a woman with a crown. Both structures are decorated with jewelry, flowers, and citrus fruits.

The Head Statues are also known as Graste. The head tells the story of passion, betrayal, jealousy, and revenge. According to Visit Sicily, during the moor domination in Sicily, there resides a beautiful girl. She used to live in the heart of Palermo in the Arab quarter of Kalsa. 

The girl takes care of her plants on her terrace. When she was planting, Moor noticed her charm and fell in love with her. The man expresses his feeling to the girl. Later, the girl finds out Moor will travel back to the East, where they were waiting for him.

When he was asleep, the girl who was mad with jealousy killed her lover, Moor. She cut his head and planted a bud of basil n his head vase. The girl used to water the plant with tears. Later the basil grew luxuriantly.

Also, another story symbolizes the impossible love of two couples. The girl was from Sicilian, and her lover was a Young Arab. After their relationship, the family punished the couple. 

It has been mentioned that the ceramic heads are made in memory of two love birds in Paris as they were murdered together. 

The White Lotus Season 2 Episode 1 Review

The White Lotus season 2 received a positive review from its fans. On IMDb, some of the viewers mentioned, 'the writing and acting are amazing.' After the success of last year's season 1 in Hawaii, the next season had set in Sicily. 

Some of the viewers shared, 'The White House season 2 dives even harder into trying to find something true in the transactional nature of humanity. It's also gorgeously shot, sharply funny, and the cast is top tier.'

The season shared the end trip with Daphne and enjoyed the beach and the discussion with two guests. In the series, Dahne is horrified after she finds a floating body in the water. 

It shared the story of a married couple, Ethan and Harper. Cameron invited the couple on the trip. Also, Cameron was their college roommate of Ethan. The couple tried to hide their disconnected relationship in front of his friends. The show gave the sinister tropical vacation. 

The season was filmed at the San Domenico Palace Taormina. The cast member signed sic year for filming the show. 

The first season was so successful that it was renewed for a second season. The first episode of the second season was released on October 30, 2022.
