Sony Pictures published Janice's first full-length screenplay, Retreat, which starred Cillian Murphy, Thandie Newton, and Jamie Bell. It was co-written and directed by Carl Tibbetts.

Janice Hallett is an accomplished journalist, scriptwriter, and author from the United Kingdom. 

She previously worked as a journalist, magazine editor, and speechwriter for the Cabinet Office and Home Office, before making her debut in the crime genre.

Janice earned the Best New Screenplay prize at the 2014 British Independent Film Festival for her 2011 debut movie, 'Retreat'.

She is also a playwright and screenwriter. Her debut book is called The Appeal.

Janice has been writing since she discovered how to write. In an interview with Suffolk Libraries, she mentioned that when universities didn't offer degrees in creative writing, English was the next best thing, so she studied it at UCL.

Her choice of journalism as a career was because it looked to be one of the few fields where writing played a significant role.

Janice's chart-topping debut novel The Appeal was published in 2021. This innovative interactive murder mystery, which was made up of emails, texts, police transcripts, and other documents, pushed the crime thriller to new heights.

The Twyford Code, Janice's second book, was released by Viper in January 2022. It is the story of an English teacher who discovers a hidden code in a well-known children's author's work but then vanishes. 

And the former student begins to look into her disappearance decades later.

She penned articles for a trade publication on mascara and tweezers for 15 years.

Janice Hallett's Family And Origin 

Janice Hallett's family is originally from Suffolk. Lowestoft and Wangford were the hometowns of her paternal grandmother. 

Her grandmother was listed in service at Henham Hall circa 1900. Her grandfathers are commemorated on Wangford War Memorial as the three servicemen by the name of Brown.

Since the high number of men passed away in the first world war from her grandmother's generation, she was unable to be married at the customary age. After the war, she went to London alone in her late 30s.

There, she met and wed her grandfather, who was by that time a widower of 60, and together they had her dad. According to her, her father cherished Suffolk throughout his entire life (Suffolklibraries). 

Janice's dad was a video store employee who regarded himself as a hipster. Similarly, her mom worked for the gas board at an office.

Hallett now resides in London with her family.

Yes, Janice Hallett, 53, is together with her partner. She met him at 14 when she began performing with the Raglan Players(The Guardian).

It is a group based in her current neighborhood of Northolt, west London. She has done everything from prompts to props to dress there. She's performed in plays and wrote plays for them.

She was awarded the CWA's John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger for the greatest debut crime novel last year for 'The Appeal.'

It was the second-highest-selling crime fiction debut of 2021, behind Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club (Viking).

Similarly, the Twyford Code is currently the fourth-best-selling crime hardback and has sold 26,423 copies in hardcover. It was ranked the 11th-best fiction hardback of the year.

The Twyford Code was listed as Number 6 in The Sunday Times paperback fiction chart in August 2022.
