Fatima Whitbread's husband, Andrew Norman passed away at age 46 due to a heart attack 

Whitbread is a retired British Javelin thrower who won the 1986 European Athletics Championships. She broke the world record in Stuttgart with her throw of 77.44 meters. She was the first British javelin thrower to set a world record. 

Previously, Whitbread was the winner of the 1987 World Championships, 1984 Summer Olympics, and 1988 Summer Olympics. She received two gold medals, three silver, and two bronze medals throughout her career. 

Whitbread won the title 1986 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards. She was honored as Sports Writers' Association Sportswoman of the Year twice.

Whitbread's husband Andrew was a police officer who passed away on September 24, 2007, at age 64 due to a heart attack. He was a renowned man in British athletics. Before his demise, he lost his official status 13 years ago in Britain. 

Norman was dismissed from his profession at the British Athletic Federation as the promotions officer due to his involvement in the case of former Sunday Times journalist Cliff Temple. After the inquiry about the suicide of the Temple, it was speculated the athlete threatened and falsely smeared a leading journalist. 

Norman was a vital part of sports for Europe and South Africa. In the 1990s, Holmes served as the first manager of the athlete. In the 1994 European Championship, Andy finished in second position. The athlete won Commonwealth 1500m title.

Norman was born in Suffolk, United Kingdom, on September 21, 1943. He was a former police officer who worked at the final European Grand Prix. He appeared as a promoter in South Africa and eastern Europe. Even the athlete was the race agent for numerous British athletes. 

In 1997, Norman tied the knot with former javelin world record holder Fatima in Copthorne, West Sussex. After nine years, the couple separated. In the early 1990s, her partner lost his job in British athletics. In January 1995, the detail of Temple's suicide case had mentioned in the show, Is This Your Life. 

Previously, Agnes Jebet Tirop, a Kenyan athlete, was stabbed by her husband and discovered deceased at her house in Iten, Kenya.

Whitbread was born to a family in Stoke Newington, London, on March 3, 1961. She is currently 61 years old. She appears to be 5 feet and 6 inches and weighs 68 kg. Her mother was of the ethnic group Turks originated from Cyprus, whereas her father was of Greek Cypriots. 

Whitbread flourished in children's homes in her childhood. She had been left under the care of her abusive mother. Also, she mentioned her childhood in a 2003 interview. In the British newspaper, The Observer, she narrated her childhood as a nightmare.

Later, Whitbread loved sports and found her true mother through sports. At age 11, the athlete started throwing the javelin. After being inspired by the legend of Atalanta, she kept interested in track and field. 

Whitbread asked retired British athlete DavidOttley if she could use his javelin. However, the athelet asked her to wait until the coach arrived. The coach of the time was Margaret Whitbread. She was a physical education teacher at a local school. 

After Fatima's situation, Margaret realizes somethings about her childhood. She was in the same boat as the athlete. After three years, the retired athlete and her family adopted Vedad. In her teenage, she spends her time in Chadwell St Mary, Essex. She joined the Torells school.

When she entered into Whitbread family, her brothers were only two and four. So, they used to call her big sister.

Whitbread has only one child from her ex-husband Norman. Ryan Norman was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on February 25, 1998. He is currently 24 years old. In 2011, the athlete's son made an impression in the series. 

Ryan appeared as Fatima's son in the series I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! for two episodes. However, he is uncredited for his appearance in episode 11. In reality television, ITV2's spin-off show featured information, chat, and behind-the-scenes footage.

After her horrific childhood experience, Fatima aimed to adopt a child. After her son joined university, she thought about fostering a child. His son will move away from her after he finishes his studies.

According to Fatima, his son had raised with an independent personality. He is good at cooking, cleaning, and other household work. Ryan was in his final year in 2020, and her kid may have moved with his girlfriend. 

Whitbread Fatima currently resides near Brentwood in Essex. She left her athlete profession and spent her old age in her home. Even the athelet had planned to adopt a child. Also, she had raised her son Ryan as a single mother after the demise of her husband.
