After several years of getting to know each other, Tom Bowman decided to make his girlfriend a lifelong partner. In 2013, Garcia faced defeat in both Australian and French Open; however, after receiving five wild card entries, she finally qualified for the Wimbledon marking her first Grand Slam qualification. She beat Zheng Jie in the 1st round but lost to Serena Williams in the next. In 2016, Garcia was a runner-up at the US Open while she sailed into the semifinal at the Australian Open that year.
