He has made great progress since his first venture into managing hospitality enterprises, the Over the Top series of restaurants, in the 1980s.

Nick Jones is the founder & CEO of Soho House. In 1995, he created the first site above Cafe Boheme as a members-only club for the city's actors and artists. Soho House is a private members club with 33 Houses currently operating in 14 nations.

Nick Jones Soho House Net Worth

According to Evening Standard, a Soho House global membership costs £2,500. Around £2.5 billion is the estimated market worth of Soho House, and Nick Jones owns 6% of it.

Even though the business went public, the remaining shares are owned by American billionaire Ron Burkle and restaurateur Richard Caring, according to the same source. In 2008, Richard Caring and 28 minor investors in Soho House agreed on a leveraged buyout, with Caring receiving 80% for £105 million and Jones keeping the remaining 20% as CEO. However, 2013 marked the end of a five-year contract between the parties.

The first Soho House opened in 1995 above Jones's Café Boheme restaurant on Greek Street in Soho, becoming the successful follow-up to his disastrous Over The Top business.

A small door around the corner entered the townhouse rooms above the restaurant, and the club was established as a hideout for the creatives and actors that frequented the establishment at the time.

Since 2004, Soho House has introduced Soho Work outposts, Soho Farmhouse, and members' clubs across the globe in Europe, Asia, and North America. You can purchase the brand's furniture, fixtures, and fittings online at Soho Home, which has a social media app.

Nick Jones Chains Of Restaurants

Six London restaurants are included in Nick's current portfolio. They are Electric Brasserie, Balham Kitchen & Bar, Barcelona, Boheme Kitchen & Bar, Café Boheme, and so on.

At the Hyde Park Hotel, he oversaw the back of the house. Before deciding to strike out on his own at 22, he worked his way up to marketing manager at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.

He founded Over The Top, a small chain of London restaurants with a pick-and-mix menu of meats and sauces, with finance from relatives and the Midland Bank. The bank sought to withdraw the funds after a few years because it was unhappy with the outcomes.

The bank gave Jones one final chance in 1995, closing two eateries while renovating the third, adding French cuisine to what would eventually become Cafe Boheme on Old Compton Street.

A sizable empty space was located above the restaurant, which gave Jones a thought. At the height of the Cool Britannia trend, which Britpop powered, Soho was teeming with artists who worked in the neighborhood media. But they didn't have anywhere of their own to socialize other than the neighborhood pubs.

Jones expanded the company to have locations outside of his West End neighborhood. The posh members' club/country house hotel in the Cotswolds, Soho Farmhouse, is now part of his portfolio and is only a short drive from his home in Oxford.

Some of London's hippest restaurant brands, such as Chicken Shop and Electric Diner, as well as the coworking space Soho Works, are in his portfolio.

Rise To Success

Jones' ascent is a fascinating one. He is infamously anti-technology, gleefully revealing that he has never used a laptop and only makes calls on his phone. His early days in business were not exactly easy.

His restaurant company, Over The Top, which in his opinion was not good, evolved into Soho House. After receiving assistance from Paul Raymond, the late founder of Soho Estates, he finally broke through in 1995.

Jones received a loan from Raymond to build the first Soho House on Greek Street. The company has long been heavily indebted. In 2020, its negative cash flow was $235 million (£169.6 million). Revenues decreased from $642 million (£463.3 million) in 2019 to $384 million (£277.1 million).

He opened the Balham Kitchen & Bar, Soho House New York, and the Cowshed spa and private members' club in 2003. In early 2004, he took over the day-to-day management of the Mayfair restaurant Cecconi's, which was later reopened in late 2005 following a comprehensive renovation.

The debut of Soho Home, a variation of Jones' present business that allowed visitors also to buy the furniture in the residence they were staying in, was announced in 2016.

The simple queries made by visitors staying at Soho House venues for the sources of their furnishings served as the motivation for this new venture. Jones decided to market them as individual products as more and more goods were produced in-house.

The decision to open the restaurant to the public at Babington was brilliant.

Jones enrolled in the Trusthouse Forte training program in 1980 after finishing high school. Before departing to start an unsuccessful restaurant chain named Over the Top, he worked for the company for eight years, rising to the position of marketing manager at the Grosvenor House hotel in Park Lane, London.

He opened Café Boheme in London's Soho in 1992 before opening the Soho House Club above the eatery three years later. The club immediately established itself as the media and creative crowd's favorite hangout in town.
