As per actor Paddy Considine, King Viserys Targaryen does have a type of leprosy. He revealed that when made an appearance on the West of Westeros episode of the Entertainment Weekly Game of Thrones podcast. 

Patrick George Considine, also known as Paddy Considine, is an English actor, director, and screenwriter. He was born on September 5, 1973. He regularly works alongside director and filmmaker Shane Meadows.

In addition to the Silver Lion for Best Short Film at the 2007 Venice Film Festival, he has won two British Academy Film Awards, three Evening Standard British Film Awards, British Independent Film Awards, and other accolades.

In his debut film with Meadows, A Room for Romeo Brass (1999), he had his first significant on-screen appearance as the unstable small-town figure Morell.

He earned the Best Actor prize at the Thessaloniki Film Festival for his first leading performance as the romantically troubled misfit Alfie in Pawe Pawlikowski's Last Resort (2000).

Does King Viserys Has Leprosy Illness?

The Game of Thrones prequel has made a point of demonstrating King Viserys' illness, which happens to be Leprosy, since the House of the Dragon premiere.

He frequently requires treatment for lesions, and the issue of his succession is urgent presumably since it is impossible to predict when the monarch will pass away.

Even though the prequel emphasizes his suffering, King Viserys' illness is never given a name. And that should come as no surprise considering Westeros's use of medieval medicine.

It's challenging to give viewers particular information if the characters don't know much about Viserys' condition. However, Paddy Considine is aware of the king's condition even if the characters never give it a name.

He genuinely has a leprosy-like condition. His bones are disintegrating, as is the rest of his body. He isn't old at all. There, he's still a young man.

He simply has something that has unhappily seized control of his body. It becomes a metaphor for being king, the pressure and strain it places on you, and the physical and mental damage it causes.

King Viserys' illness was discussed by House of the Dragon actor Paddy Considine on the West of Westeros podcast. Given the scars it left on his character's skin, he described it as "a type of leprosy."

As per the source cheatsheet, Viserys is suffering from a type of leprosy, Considine continued, pointing out that the character's degeneration is consistent with his reign as king. He is in pain. His health is getting worse.

Leprosy as a medican condition in our world is a contagious disease, however, since we do not know the exact nature of the disease, we cannot declare that it is contagious in Westeros at that particular time period.

Nevertheless, since we can see King Viserys involved in various activities throughout the realm with several of his acquaintances, no transfer of disease can be seen in the series. So, it might be possible that the condition is afterall not contagious in Martin's world of Game of Thrones. 

King Viserys Health Condition: How Is He Now?

While fans have conjectured about King Viserys' illness the Westeros disease greyscale being a common theory Paddy Considine has made it clear exactly what is wrong with him.

It serves as a metaphor for being king, the pressure and strain it places on you, and the harm it causes to your bodily and mental health

Viserys experiences stress throughout his rule, with his daughter Princess Rhaenyra, brother Prince Daemon, and wife Queen Alicent being significant sources of stress in his life as his heir to the throne of Westeros.

This is probably the last time we'll see Viserys and Paddy Considine because they'll all be aged up and played by new actors in a later episode due to a time jump.

Viserys may, nevertheless, have a chance of surviving to rule another day.
