Virginia Bell, a former senior puisne Justice, was appointed to lead the investigation of Scott Morrison. 

Bell is a previous senior judge of the High Court of Australia. She is a member of the highest court in the Australian court hierarchy. From 2006 to 2008, she operated as president of the Australian Institute of Judicial Administration.

In February 2009, Virginia had appointed to the court. In the meantime, she served as a magistrate of the New South Wales Court of Appeal. Also, on February 28, 2021, she retired from her position. The judge completed her graduation with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney in 1977. 

Bell served as part-time commissioner from 1998 to 1999 at the Law Reform Commission of New South Wales. Even the judge was the previous host of the show Later Night Live on AC Radio National program.

Bell was appointed to conduct the inquiry of Scott Morrison's confidential appointments. According to prime minister Anthony Albanese, the investigation will be quick and appropriate. 

Federal Attorney-General, Mark Dreyfus shared the news via Twitter. He tweeted, 'Former High Court Justice Virginia Bell will lead an independent inquiry into Scott Morrison's secret ministries.' The attorney added, ' The inquiry is necessary because of Mr. Morrison's actions.

Bell will examine all the secret arrangements to all the sources, including health, finance, treasury, and home affairs. In 1997, the judge began her career as a solicitor on the east coast of Australia. From 1978 to 1984, she served as a solicitor at the Redfern Legal Centre. 

Bell was part of the law Foundation of the Board of Governors. In 1984, the lawyer had been assigned to join Frederick Jordan Chambers. In 1986, she served as a public defender and returned to Private practice after three years. 

Moreover, Justice Bell helped the Wood Royal Commission, and afterward, she became senior Counsel. On March 25, 1999, she vowed as a judge of the highest state court of the Australian States Supreme Court of New South Wales. In Early 2008, she had allocated to the Court of Appeal. 

During her Supreme court time, she worked over a slander case brought by Chinese-born Australian entrepreneur Rene Rivkin.

Virginia Bell Partner Is A Barrister

Bell currently lives with her partner in inner Sydney. She is a barrister. Previously, the lawyer was involved for a long term in LGBT and human rights matters. She even occurred in the first Mardi Gras LGBT right in 1978 rally in Sydney. 

However, the rally had broken up by the police. The judge is the first lesbian who was present in the High Court. She was named the second openly LGBT girl after Australian Jurist and academic Michael Donald Kirby. On February 3, 2009, she replaced his place after his retirement. 

A Melbourne Law School professor, Jermey Gans, said the most powerful bloc of judges in the court's history was the partnership of Bell with the chief justice of Australia, Susan Maru Keifel, and Justice of the High Court of Australia Patrick Keane.

Also, in March 1999, Justice Bell was selected Supreme Court of New South Wales as a judge. She was the chair member from 2007 to 2008 of the University of Wollongong Law Faculty Advisory Committee.
