Salman Rushdie is an atheist who is from an Indian Muslim family.

Rushdie is an Indian-born British American novelist who often combined magical realism with historical fiction. He deals with connections, disruptions, and migration linking between Eastern and Western civilizations. The novelist won the Booker prize in 1981 for his book Midnight's Children. 

His novel, which some Muslims see as sinful, The Satanic Verses, caused him a life-threatening incident. However, it relived the novelist is off the ventilator and speaking. People are praying for the good health of the author.

Rushdie is an atheist; he didn't believe in gods. However, the novelist belongs to a Kashmiri Muslim family. He was born in Bombay, Bombay Presidency, British India (now Mumbai, Maharashtra, India) on June 19, 1947. The novelist is currently 75 years old. His birth name is Ahmed Salman Rushdie.

Rushdie is the son of a Cambridge-educated lawyer-turned-businessman, Anis Ahmed Rushdie. Perhaps, his mother was also a teacher of that time. His father was dismissed from his career as a government civil servant in Indian Civil Services after the birth certificate and age did not match.

The novelist has three sisters. According to Rushdie, his father took their last name in honor of Andalusian polymath Averroes. The writer grew up in Bombay city and grasped the knowledge in Fort, South Bombay, at the Cathedral and John Connon School. 

Later, the Rushdie family moved to England from India and joined the school in Rugby, Warwickshire in Rugby School. Later, the novelist joined King's College, Cambridge, and completed his graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the subject of history. 

News outlets mentioned that Rushdie was attacked on Friday in New York, US, moments before delivering a lecture. Even in the 1980s, the novelist received death threats from Iran because of his work.

Rushdie married four times throughout his life. His first wife was Clarissa Luard; She was the son of his first son Xaffar who was born in 1979. She worked as a Literature officer of the Arts Council of England from 1976 to 1987. Their son is currently 42 years old. 

Zafar Rushdie tied the knot with Natalie Rushdie, the London-based jazz singer. In mid-1980, his father left his mother Luard for another woman. Also, their mutual friend Bruce Chatwin introduced him to Australian writer Robyn Davidson.

Later, the novelist married his second wife, Marianne Wiggins, an American author. The coup;e tied the knot in 1988, and after five years, they chose their separate ways. In 1997, the novelist married his third wife London-based jazz singer. She is also a British editor and author like her husband. 

After weeding, the pair had a son named Milan in 1997, who is currently 24 years old. In 2004, he divorced Milan's mother and tied the knot with Indian American author and activist Padma Lakshmi. She is the host of the American television reality show Top Chef. Nonetheless, in three years, the marriage ended. 

According to rumors, Rushdie had an intimate relationship with Rachel Eliza Griffiths. They believed they attended a London party to honor the scribe's 72nd birthday.

Salman Rushdie's Health Condition And Recent Incident

Rushdie had an operation in 1999 to correct a problem with the levator palpebrae superioris muscle called ptosis, which caused the dropping of the upper eyelid. According to the novelist, it was hard for him to open his eyes due to his medical condition. If the author hadn't had surgery, he might have been blind throughout his life.

A day after being stabbed at an event in New York state, he had taken off a ventilator. The news had delivered by Andrew Wylie, his agent to US media. According to sources, the novelist has faced death threats for his novel Satanic Verses, which had written against god. 

 A 24-year-old Hadi Matar is suspected of stabbing Mt Rushdie at least ten times, which caused damage to one arm, liver, and likely his eyes. The condition of the novelist seemed to be critical for the moment, and several writers updated the novelist, finally speaking.
