Joe Gallo plays left field for the Los Angeles Dodgers of Major League Baseball(MLB) as a professional baseball player. He formerly played for the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, Gallo attended Bishop Gorman High School. He was named the Nevada Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year as a senior and a MaxPreps, ESPNHS, and USA Today High School All-American.

In 446 career at-bats, he hit 67 home runs, a Nevada high school record. During his final year of high school, he had a batting average of.509 with 21 home runs and 80 RBIs in 114 at-bats.

To attend Louisiana State University and play collegiate baseball for the LSU Tigers, Gallo signed a National Letter of Intent.

The Texas Rangers chose Gallo with the 39th overall pick in the first round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft. Gallo decided to join the Rangers for a $2.25 million signing bonus rather than enroll at LSU.

Tony and Lauro Gallo gave birth to Joey Gallo, a left infielder who plays in the major leagues. Gallo's parents were Italian immigrants who lived in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Although his mother, Laura (née Giordano), was reared in Bensonhurst, New York, just a few blocks from the area where his father was born and raised, she was actually from Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily.

His father graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1972. In 1974, he participated in three games for the GCL Expos. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the College of William & Mary and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School.

He later had positions with the federal government as a food marketing economist, college professor, and banker. He was also a pioneer in restoring old houses in Washington, DC's Capitol Hill Historic District.

Joey Gallo has an older brother named Salvatore. He played catcher as a youngster in Las Vegas long before he developed into his 6'5", 230-pound body.

One day, his friend and teammate Bryce Harper was pitching as he was behind the plate for his eight to nine-year-old squad. While growing up, he and Harper played on several Little League and travel league teams, but Kris Bryant of the Cubs was a couple of years older.

Because Tony and Laura, Gallo's parents, are great friends with Kris, Gallo had some acquaintances with Kris. Joey still has strong memories of Bryant on the field even though Anthony Gallo, Anthony's older brother, is Bryant's equal.

At the professional level, after batting.478 (11-23) over six games with four home runs and 11 RBI, Gallo was awarded the AL Player of the Week. He blasted his 100th career home run eight against Pirates pitcher Nick Kingham.

In his 377th career game, he became the American League player to hit 100 home runs the fastest. Gary Sanchez later broke this record by hitting 100 home runs in 355 games. In addition, Gallo broke an MLB record by having the fewest singles in his career (93) at the time he hit 100 home runs.
