Vincent Aloysius was the father of the broadcaster. He was a salesman and used to do business related to silk. Whereas his mother, Bridget, was a housewife. Scully is of Irish ancestry.

At age 4, his biological demise of a medical condition called Pneumonia. After several years, his mother tied the knot with Merchant Sailor. Scully's stepfather's name was Allan Reeve. The announcer joined Fordham Preparatory School in his hometown.

Previously, Scully worked as a delivery man and mailman. He used to deliver beer, pushing garment racks, and clean silver. The broadcaster started his first job at form Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City. Later, he discovered a love for sports at an early age. He used to live near the Polo Grounds. 

Additionally, Scully was part of the NYC Police Athletic League and Catholic Youth Organization. As a result, he used to attend games for free.
