Sacheen Littlefeather is currently working as a Native American civil rights activist. She has not made many movie appearances after 1978.

In 1973, she made an appearance at the Oscars and went to the stage to decline the award on behalf of Marlon Brando, who had won it for his role in The Godfather. He had declined it because the US film industry misrepresented Native Americans.

As little feather gave the speech the actor had provided her, she allegedly faced "unwarranted and unjustified" abuse. Following that incident, she was shunned by the industry.

After 50 years of the event, the Academy apologized to the actress. In September, she will speak about her attendance at the 1973 Oscars and the future of indigenous representation in movies at an Academy Museum of Motion Pictures event, reports BBC.

Where Is Sacheen Littlefeather Now?- Is She Acting?

Sacheen Littlefeather appeared in a Canadian documentary film, Reel Injun, in 2009. She had not featured in any movies since 1978, and her appearance after three decades made people think she was returning to the industry.

However, she did not return immediately. But, she made another appearance in the documentary Sacheen: Breaking the Silence in 2018.

Currently, she is not acting. The industry had shunned her after her speech on behalf of Marlon Brando in 1973, although she continued to work for a few years after the incident.

Later, she began working in hospice care. In addition, she created films about Native Americans and worked as an activist for several health and Native American issues.

She continued advocacy and rose to prominence in the Native American community in California. She is also a founding member of The "Red Earth Indian Theater Company."

Does Sacheen Littlefeather Have A Husband?

Sacheen Littlefeather shared over three decades of her life with her husband, Charles Koshiway. He was a member of the Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma.

He was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1942. His parents were Thelma Gertrude Koshiway and Charles Johnston. His ancestor Jonathan Koshiway was a pioneering figure in the Native American Church in 1914.

Charles's family relocated to California as part of the Indian Relocation Program when he was just two years old, and he spent the rest of his childhood there. He was a Vietnam war veteran initiated into the "Southern Cheyenne Combat Veterans Gourd Society" in 1992 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Their love story is no less than any fairytale. As per the information on his obituary, Sacheen saw an Indian man in a white Stetson cowboy hat in her dream the night before they met. The following morning, she went to a Pow Wow and ran across the man from her dream.

She met Charles there, who asked her how she was while nodding his cowboy hat and speaking softly in an Oklahoman accent. That was the beginning of their three decades of the journey together. Unfortunately, he died in November 2021, leaving his wife and daughter behind.

Who Are Sacheen Littlefeather Children?

Sacheen Littlefeather did not give birth to any children. However, she and her husband, Charles, adopted a girl from Korea named Coleen.

They did not have any children of their own. Instead, Sacheen dedicated her life to her Native American civil rights work after she stopped working as an actress following the controversy at the Oscars.
