Heche's family issued a statement through a representative claiming that she had "serious anoxic brain damage" and was now being maintained on life support to see whether her organs were still viable for donation. Her organ donation has always been her preference, according to the reports. Sadly, Anne Heche's accident caused a serious anoxic brain injury, and she is still in a critical state and in a coma. Unfortunately, as per the statement of her family members, she is not expected to survive.

Following a blood draw, police confirmed on Thursday that they were looking into whether Heche was intoxicated at the time of the event. However, officer Annie Hernandez added that further testing is necessary to rule out any medications that were supplied in the hospital. On Friday, Heche was driving fast when she struck a house in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles, not far from her own residence. According to accounts, the accident started a fire that required an hour to put out.
