When Darius Campbell competed on Pop Idol, which would later change its name to The X Factor, he first gained notoriety. Darius was allowed to sign a record deal with Simon Cowell despite finishing third in the competition, but he shocked the audience by declining.

In an interview, he said, "I was fortunate because no one understood what Pop Idol would be or that it would evolve into The X Factor when I went for my audition. I wanted to sign a record deal and release my original music."

Darius was born in Glasgow on August 19, 1980, to Iranian father Booth Danesh and Scottish mother Avril Campbell. His family resides in Bearsden. He has two younger brothers, Aria (born in 1983) and Cyrus(born in 1995). He was the oldest of three boys. He participated at the Glasgow Academy and Bearsden Primary School before beginning his studies in English literature & philosophy at the University of Edinburgh.

The veteran singer died at the young age of 41 years in his US apartment, his family announced. The former Pop Idol contestant was discovered dead on August 11 in Rochester, Minnesota; however, the exact cause of death is still unknown.

According to a statement, we regret to inform you of Darius Campbell Danesh's passing. On August 11, Darius was unconscious in bed in his apartment in Rochester, Minnesota. The local medical examiners' office later pronounced him dead.

There were no indications of malice or strange circumstances, according to the local police department. His unexpected death has no known cause; however, investigations into his health are ongoing. "Please accept our request for privacy at this time as we process the devastating death of our son and brother," the request reads.

In December 2017, Pop Idol Darius Campbell nearly lost his life after ingesting contaminated Thames River water while attempting to sell a new water filter for his charity. The West End performer and vocalist filmed a demonstration video for the filter close to a Thames sewage outlet, which filters 99.9% of known water-borne diseases, germs, and viruses.

His immunity was low due to an inflammatory virus he had contracted from the Thames, and he later had bacterial meningitis. When her son collapsed in 2015, his mother, Avril, undergoing radiotherapy and chemotherapy for breast cancer, remained by his bedside until he slipped into a coma.
