In 2018, Diane Ladd (born Rose Diane Lander), 83, was diagnosed with pneumonia, and her medical team informed her she had six months of prognosis. However, the American actress recovered from her illness, proving medical experts wrong.

Diane Ladd is a well-recognized actress, film director, author, and producer who has appeared in over a hundred films and television roles. Her most notable work as an actress was in the 1974 film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, for which she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in Supporting Role.

Her Role in the same movie also landed her a nomination for the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress. In addition, Diane won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television for Alice.

She stars as Nell O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores, a Hallmark Channel series. Chesapeake Shore is a television drama based on the novel series of the same name by Sherryl Woods.

Because of her sudden absence from Chesapeake Shore, admirers wonder whether she is returning or not after recovering from a life-threatening illness that she suffered in late 2018.

Diane Ladd Was Diagnosed With Pneumonia-Illness and Health Update 2022

The medical experts diagnosed Diane with pneumonia in 2018; she was 83 years old. The doctors informed her family members that she only had about a half year to live with her condition. Pneumonia is an infection caused by various pathogens inflaming the air sacs in the lungs.

Diane mentioned to Closer Weekly that her daughter, actress Laura Dern, started to burst into tears after hearing the news regarding her health condition, saying, "you cannot die! I don't have any brothers or sisters - mother, and you're all I have!"

The American actress proved her doctors wrong when she miraculously recovered from her pneumonia infection. During her recovery, Diane revealed that she and her daughter started creating memories of them together by going on walks and recording their conversation.

Despite her poor health, Diane didn't stop writing books but worked with her daughter to complete the book "Honey, Baby, Mine." The title of the book origins from a song that Diane's father used to sing to her.

Currently, no news reports mention Diane's health problems in the media. However, she appears to be well and will be celebrating her 87th birthday this November.
